AURANGABAD CIRCLE

The Forests of Aurangabad Circle were under the management of the princely state of Hyderabad. Subsequent to the Police Activity in the year 1948, this part merged with the Indian Union. During 1948 to 1956 this part remained as a part of the erstwhile Hyderabad State. Following the state reorganization in 1956 this area came under ex-Bombay Presidency. In 1960 Maharashtra State was formed and since then the tract dealt, with has become a part of Maharashtra State. The post of Conservator of Forests ofAurangabad circle was upgraded as Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial) Aurangabad since 2002. Aurangabad Forest Circleconsist of 3 territorial divisions and 3 independent sub divisions.The total Forest area of the Aurangabad Circle is 2882.78 Sq.km.Out of this 173.63 sq.km. is now under the control of F.D.C.M. Limited.

The area deals with all reserved, protected, unclassed forests and demarcated Govt, waste lands in charge of Aurangabad Forest Circle except the areas included in Gautala Autramghat Wildlife Sanctuary 260.61 sq.kms, Jaikwadi Bird Sanctuary 341.05 sq.kms, Painganga Sanctuary 303.44 sq. kms, Naigaon Peacock Sanctuary 29.90 sq.kms, Yedsi Ramling Ghat Sanctuary 22.37 ha. ie. total area 957.37 sq.kms.

The circle is bounded tonorth by Jalgaon, Buldhana, Akola, Yavatmal districts in Maharashtra. tosouth by Solapur district in maharashtra, Bidar district in Karnataka & Nizamabad, Adilabad district in Andhra Pradesh, towest by Ahemadnagar & Nashik districts in Maharahstra.
